James Keppel Scholarship Report 2013

Louverture Cleary School Office of External Affairs

Friedkens Augustin (LCS 2012) is the new recipient of the James F. Keppel Scholarship. Friedkens started his first year of university education in the fall of 2012. He is majoring in engineering at the state university in the Faculté des Sciences Appliquees (Faculty of Applied Sciences) and anticipates graduating in 2016. Please find at the bottom of this report a thank you letter from Friedkens.

Since Friedkens is able to attend a state university and keep the cost down, the Office of External Affairs will be adding another James F. Keppel scholarship recipient this summer. Please let us know if you have any details to add to your current specifications.

Past scholarship recipient, Beethorens Seide (LCS 2007) graduated from the State University in 2012 with a degree in Agronomy. Beethorens is currently teaching at Louverture Cleary School while preparing himself to work on his final project, which will focus on broiler production. The project will take about 7 months to complete.

Prior to Beethorens, Martineau Isaac (LCS 2003) was the first recipient on the James Keppel scholarship. He graduated from the Université Notre Dame d'Haiti in 2010 with a degree in medicine. Martineau continues to work at Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Milot practicing general medicine and enjoying helping people in need. Next year Martineau will be shifting his focus to specialize in orthopedics.

Thank you again for your continued support. We greatly appreciate your assistance to the graduates of Louverture Cleary School.

Thank You Letter From Friedkens

I feel amazed today to link myself to you once more through my writings. I want to thank you for everything and wish you a wonderful summer ahead.

This May, I am nearing the completion of my first year at university and things are going well. The first part of the year was not as I wished because I did not know the real way of doing things at the Sciences department of the UEH (State University). But for the second part, things were better because I have learned from my mistakes and improved my performance. Now, we are in the last part of the school year and the Lord's Grace I am going to do my best to reach the highest position possible.

Thank you for your support since months ago. I hope that my performance will satisfy your expectations.

Sincerely,

Friedkens Augustin
